Rebel Consulting. That was what I was going to call my company. In English because I think Bergen...
Newsletter from Dogwine - June and summer!
Barely 2 months have passed since Dogwine officially started on May 1. What a journey so far. I've lost count of the number of cups of coffee I've had with nice people, and despite the fact that the caffeine intake has been far above the recommended, it's been an adventure. Summarizing the start is best done over a bowl at Godt Brød, which has become the closest thing I have to an office. So if you are curious, need someone to spar with, have good advice for an entrepreneur who is running for the fourth time or want to discuss a potential collaboration, I hope you will get in touch.
I have selected my first value for Dogwine.Social responsibility will be a cornerstone of what we will do going forward. Already today, this is lived out through pro-bono assignments such as strategy work for foundations, coaching of young talents and experienced managers and counseling for people in challenging work situations. Contributing to something bigger than just my small AS is probably one of the main reasons why I started the company, and I am so lucky that I have been able to live this out already from day 1. No one can do everything, but everyone can do a little.
A long and relaxing July awaits. The past year has been both exciting, developing, fun and demanding. Then it is important to fill up the tank before it breaks loose again in August. Below I have put together a small sandwich list of what I think can give some energy, both into the summer and at the start when we have to return to new/old habits. In the meantime, I wish you a wonderful summer, surrounded by nice people and with time for reflection ☀️
Recommendations:
If you only have to watch one thing on TV this summer, this should be it. Fantastic interviews, large amounts of beautiful music and a unique insight into a world which for most people is quite out of the ordinary. And if you're wondering what a rebel is, just look forward to episode 2. So the question is really just when the next trip to London can be booked.
Sommerles - Norway's biggest and coolest reading campaign
Sommerles is primarily aimed at parents of young children. But if you have some toddlers, there is a lot of good reading motivation in a small gift from the library, and not least good gamification with levels that motivate effort. And yes; audio books also apply, which can create small respites for parents in an otherwise busy summer.
HBR's 10 Must Reads on Teams
If you need a book to enjoy on lazy days by the pool or in the mountains, this is a suitably nerdy book about teams. Ok, it's probably for those with a special interest, but if you're a leader or you work in a team that you know is a bit sluggish, then this might inspire action when the sun cream has been rinsed off and the flip-flops have been put back in the cupboard. And even better; the whole thing is available digitally and can be enjoyed from a phone, iPad or PC.
The network arena Favna in Bergen
In between, business life is lonely, and especially as a manager or specialist. Then it can be good to have a network of nice people you can spar with. This spring I myself have had the pleasure of getting to know Monica and Lars Petter in Favna, and been impressed by what they have achieved in the short time they have been in operation. I love cheering on good people, and here they make it easy. They have several current networks, sign up today and you'll have something to look forward to when the days get shorter and shorter.
Robust leadership in change processes - Seminar at Fløien
Another person I have had the pleasure of getting to know is Cecilie Thorsen, a psychological specialist who works with organizations and people. A wiser, calmer and more reflective person will take a long time to find. Now is your chance to kick-start autumn with a seminar on leadership, commitment and meaning at Fløien itself on 28 August. They still have a few free places, so here you just have to move around.
Have a great summer!
